It was a beautiful and sunny day in Pangnirtung. The snow is starting to form on the glacial mountains in the panoramic skyline. We continued our youth-focused photography and video workshops at the local high school.

It was another eventful day in Pangnirtung. We hit the school to meet up with local youth and to follow their progress in a photo project the grade 11 and 12's are working on related to climate change. You can see Stacey in the photo video taping the excellent youth-focused discussion.

Well, it's been a while since the last post, as I took a break from blogging over the entire summer. I had a very good reason. My partner, Nathalie, and I had our first baby. A little girl named "Nuna" (meaning "land" in Inuktitut). So, I stayed back in Winnipeg with family while Zach and the crew were in Igloolik and out on the land with elders.… Uqalimakkanirit

Iqaluit has been the heart beat of the global discussion regarding climate change over the past couple of days. People we want to interview are everywhere and we have been connecting with them.

We had a busy day yesterday. We started by having lunch with John Ralston Saul, Adrienne Clarkson and Sheila Watt-Cloutier. There's a flurry of activitiy in Iqaluit these days, with Sheila giving the 9th Annual LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium lecture this evening, which will be webcast live on IsumaTV (see tab to the right).

We've just arrived in Iqaluit - the capital of Nunavut - after having been in Resolute Bay for almost two weeks. Resolute was an incredible place and we were met with so much hospitality from the locals. 

We made our presentation to Resolute Bay's Hamlet Council last night. Zacharias took the lead, introducing our project in Inuktitut, and outlined how we plan to include the community in the overall process. The municipality was very excited and supportive of this Inuit-focused project.

It's windy and snowy in Resolute Bay and we're spending our first day connecting with locals and preparing for the week ahead. Conveniently, there's a local Hamlet Council meeting today, and we'll be making a presentation about the project.

We've just arrived in Qausuittuq - Resolute Bay - which means "the place where day never comes". It's the second highest Inuit settlement in the Arctic, next to Grise Fjord, and is a place where winters are very long and dark.
