Mixing historical photos, contemporary footage, and recreated scenes, this experimental documentary tells the story of a woman who survived a terrible starvation to become one of the most important residents of Igloolik.

 In Caribou Storyteller Elders tell stories of people who lived on the land; showing us what the story is today, what it looks like now and who goes there now…with many questions around: are people still hunting caribou?

Is it still a caribou route? Is it still accessable to this day?

Zacharias Kunuk and his guests from Clyde River, Pond Inlet, Arctic Bay and Igloolik share their opinions on the Mary River mine and discuss what they want to see changed.

 Noah Piugattuk was born in 1900 and lived to be 96 years old. He spent most of his life living a traditional Inuit life on the land and over the course of his lifetime saw the decline of traditional practices that had persisted for thousands of years and the creation of a new relationship with the Canadian colonial state.

In this interview, Noah talks about hunting whales.
