Colombiana, Licenciada en Ciencias Sociales, Antropóloga y Cineasta. Se desempeña como realizadora independiente de documentales desde 1960. Ha trabajado activamente con el movimiento agrario, movimientos sindicales, estudiantiles, las comunidades indígenas y las culturas afrocolombianas, sobre estas últimas realizó una trilogía de documentales en los últimos ocho años. Actualmente, realiza un proyecto documental sobre el Etnocidio en Colombia. También ha sido investigadora, ha publicado artículos sobre el origen del cine indígena en Colombia, dictado Talleres de Formación y es la Representante por Colombia en el Festival de Cine y Video de Pueblos Indígenas. Su obra ha sido objeto de varias retrospectivas en Europa: 100% Colombia, en Paris - Francia (2005); Imago en Barcelona - España (2007), invitada de Honor al 50-DOK Leipzig en Alemania (2007). Ha sido también merecedora de innumerables premios en Festivales Nacionales e Internacionales de Cine al ser una de las pioneras del Cine de Documental en Colombia y en América Latina.     An old tent with sealskins on top. Caribou skin is at the bottom. The doorway. Long time ago, the Inuit made tents out of caribou skins, because there was nothing else for a tent. The tent poles would stand on a pile of rocks so the tent would be higher. Long time ago, those were the kinds of tents.
