Students on Ice Arctic 2018: The Journey

Between July 23-August 7, 2018, 125 students from all over the world sailed through the Canadian High Arctic and Greenland with Students on Ice. This transformational journey engaged youth in a greater understanding and appreciation for the Arctic.

Guided by a team of Indigenous and non Indigenous scientists, artists, historians, educators, business & policy leaders, youth connected to one another, to the land and waters around them, and to new knowledge and perspectives, which will fuel their goals and ambitions for a lifetime.

       This two-week, 4074km journey brought together 130 students, from 20 countries, including every circumpolar nation to connect to nature, to their peers, to new knowledge and perspectives across key topics including climate change, ocean literacy, healthy communities, sustainable development goals and the blue economy, and to a greater sense of self and their goals for the future.
