Escuela de Cine y Comunicacion Mapuche del Aylla Rewe Budi

The Mapuche School of Filmmaking and Communication of the Aylla Rewe Budi aims to strengthen and share Mapuche forms of communication, and works to build a distinctly Mapuche way of making films. In this context, filmmaking workshops have taken place in the Aylla Rewe Budi traditional territory since 2011, training Mapuche youth to collectively create short films from within their territory, to share with their people and the world.


The Filmmaking Workshops are grounded in tukulpa kimvn or bringing out knowledge by reflecting on Mapuche communication. In this way, we see filmmaking as a tool to address and reflect on the many aspects of our culture. We are working to build our own way of making films that emerges from our Mapuche knowledge.

The Filmmaking Workshop takes place once a year, result of a coordinated effort by the lof (communities) of Malalhue Chanco, Llaguepulli, Kawemu, Rolonche, Millahueco, Mallay, Yenehue and Huente and in collaboration with Mapuche and Canadian organizations: Lafken Ñy Zugvn, Radio Werken Kvrvf, Wapikoni Mobile, a2delante-Strategic Video Initiative and Université de Montréal.

La Escuela de Cine y Comunicación Mapuche del Aylla Rewe Budi pretende visibilizar y fortalecer la comunicación desde la cosmovisión Mapuche para encontrarnos con nuestra propia forma de hacer cine. En este contexto se realizan talleres de producción cinematográfica desde 2011 en el territorio ancestral del Aylla Rewe Budi, formando a jóvenes mapuche en la realización colectiva de cortometrajes desde sus lof (comunidades), para compartirlos con el Pueblo Mapuche y con el mundo.

Los Talleres de Producción Cinematográfica se fundamentan en el tukulpa kimvn o traer el conocimiento a través de la reflexión entorno a la comunicación mapuche. De esta forma tomamos el cine como herramienta para trabajar y reflexionar sobre diversos aspectos de nuestra cultura. En este sentido estamos construyendo la forma propia de hacer cine desde el conocimiento mapuche.

El Taller de Producción Cinematográfica se realiza una vez por año, producto de un esfuerzo de coordinación entre los lof Malalhue Chanco, Llaguepulli, Kawemu, Rolonche, Millahueco, Mallay, Yenehue y Huente y con colaboración de instancias Mapuche y Canadienses: Lafken Ñy Zugvn, Radio Werken Kvrvf, Wapikoni Mobile, a2delante-Iniciativa Video Estratégico y la Universidad de Montreal.
