Segment 1: Inullariit Committee hosts an event in Igloolik celebrating the return of the sun. Anthony Qunnut opens with a speech and prayers. Igloolik women’s choir performs some songs. Therese Qillaq talks about how the community used to celebrate when the sun returns. Racheal Ujarasuk, Margaret Sunak and Elisapee Nutarakituq perform the relighting of the seal oil lamp (qulliq). Siporah Inuksuk talks about the importance and traditional use of the seal oil lamp. Nathan Qamaniq talks about how Inuit survived before contact. Igloolik youth group of Ataguttaaluk school perform.
