Aboriginal Rights in the Constitution - 1981

Segment 1: This program is about changing the Constitution of Canada to include recognition of Aboriginal rights. Peter Ittinuar was the MP for the Nunatsiaq (pre-Nunavut) riding in the NWT at the time. As MP, he lobbied the federal government to make changes to reflect the rights of Inuit. Some people included in this video are Charlie Watt and Eric Tagoona, who are interviewed on Inuit rights as first Canadians.

The Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, established in Canada's territory of Nunavut, has been producing Inuit language video, by, for and about Inuit since 1981. This video is from their collection and has been made available on the Internet for your enjoyment through funding provided by the Government of Canada and the Government of Nunavut.
