Inuusivut partners provide direction, feedback and support to the project, ensuring its success.
Embrace Life Council
The Embrace Life Council is administering the Inuusivut Project.
Established in 2003, the Embrace Life Council works to support and
encourage Nunavummiut to value life.
FNIHB provides core project funding for the Inuusivut project, as well
as four other National Demonstration Projects across Canada, through the National Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS).
FNIHB also provides support to the Spirit of Life Network, which was
created through the Mental Health Promotion Pilot Projects.
The National Inuit Youth Council represents the interests of Inuit youth in Canada. Across the Inuit regions of Inuvialuit, Kitikmeot, Kivalliq, Qikiqtaaluk, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut, there is an estimated 45,000 Inuit living in 53 communities. Inuit youth make up a clear majority of the overall population. Regular phone conferences and
meetings are held to keep communications open, exchange ideas, share
information on resources and opportunities and guide NIYC projects and activities.
National Aboriginal Health Organization
The National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) is an Aboriginal-designed and -controlled body committed to influencing and advancing the health and well-being of Aboriginal Peoples by carrying out knowledge-based strategies.
Incorporated in 2000, NAHO is a unique not-for-profit organization founded upon, and committed to, unity, while respecting diversity. With Aboriginal communities as its primary focus, NAHO gathers, creates, interprets, disseminates, and uses both traditional Aboriginal and contemporary western healing and wellness approaches. At all times, the organization reflects the values and principles contained in traditional knowledge and traditional knowledge practices.
