Doc on symphony's trip to Arctic screens in Montreal

Last year's Arctic adventure by l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will hit the big screen at the Montreal World Film Festival on Sept. 5, for the premiere showing of Tusarnituuq! Nagano in the Land of the Inuit.

The 52-minute documentary chronicles the OSM's first tour of the far north, which included performances of Stravinsky L'Histoire du Soldat in Inuktitut and collaborations with Inuit throat singers and Toronto composer Alexina Louie. Kent Nagano, OSM music director, will attend the screening.

Tusarnituuq (which means "a beautiful sound") was directed by Félix Lajeunesse, whose short film Tungijug, featuring Inuit electro-pop throat-singer Tanya Tagaq and filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk, premieres at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
