Commissaire invite : Ryan Rice
Cette année, le commissaire invité Ryan Rice présentera une exposition réunissant oeuvres picturales, photographiques et vidéographiques ainsi que des estampes. Cette année la galerie présente les travaux de trois artistes émergents dont les oeuvres critiquent, manipulent et
reconsidèrent les traditions du conte à travers la perspective des premières nations. Les artistes exposants sont: Duane Linklater (Edmonton, Alberta), Jason Luhan (Brooklyn, New
York) et Tania Willard (Vancouver, British Columbia). Habitant de Kahnawake, Québec, Ryan Rice est un commissaire qui a étudié à l’Université de Concordia (Montréal) et au Centre des Études de Commissariat au Collège Bard (Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.). Il a été le commissaire de plusieurs exposition notamment : La Galerie d’Art d’Ottawa, la Galerie d’art de l’Université Carleton (Ottawa, ON) et la
Galerie Walter Phillips au Centre Banff (Banff, AB).

- Projection Wapikoni Mobile en présence de Jolyanne Mathieu, organisatrice — 6 juin

Gallery 101 (Ottawa, Ontario)
Activities and workshops offered by the gallery during the exhibition:
On May 16, Louise Mauger, a well-known bookbinder artist, will be conducting
a bookbinding workshop offered to professional artists, writers and cultural
workers. Three different kinds of bookbinding techniques will be introduced
to the participants. Workshop offered by the Conseil de la culture de
l’Estrie.
Video projection from the Wapikoni Mobile, a mobile video production studio
intended for young First Nation of Northern Quebec will be shown on June 6.
The project, initiated by Quebec filmmaker Manon Brian, has been active
since 2004. The project organizer Jolyanne Mathieu, will be here to
introduce the project.
Nadine Walsh, a Montreal storyteller, will present traditional First Nation
and Quebec stories and legends in an interactive workshop offered to
teenagers on June 13.
Film Festival Presence Autochtone: a selection of films from the festival
will be presented at the gallery mid-June.
