Learning from Stories of Community Resilience
About
This informative panel presentation share stories of practical experience from those engaged in community engagement activities that support community resilience.
Convened by Jennifer Brennan from the University of Toronto, conversation starters for this session include Lisa DeLong, from the Prince’s School for Traditional Arts (PSTA); Laurie McLaren, Aboriginal Initiatives at Nipissing University; Zeni Thumbadoo, National Association of Child Care Workers (NACCW); Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo of the Ahousaht First Nation; and Dominic Richards from the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community.
Social isolation significantly impacts individual and community health, well-being, livelihoods, and resilience, and yet few programmes and policies currently address this issue directly.
We thank the Samuel Family Foundation, the Synergos Institute and TakingITGlobal for organizing the first symposium on Overcoming Isolation and Deepening Social Connectedness in October 2014. Thank you for sharing your stories, and for making it possible for us to share this valuable and important information with others.
We encourage you to visit their web site for more information website and a transcript of this video at www.socialconnectedness.org.
