PETER HENRY ARNATSIAQ is Oki, Atanarjuat's lifelong rival and enemy. Living in Igloolik as a full-time hunter, Atanarjuat was Peter Henry's first acting experience.

Sauri

When young, he has a submissive manner concealing a bitter resentment of his powerful father, the murdered camp leader. When he becomes camp leader himself, he shows himself to be cunning, manipulative, and intimidating.

Qulitalik

Panikpak's brother, a strong, handsome-featured man with piercing eyes. A shaman.

Panikpak

She is an elegant, intelligent woman with a young girl's lively face. She exudes energy and at the same time gives an immediate sense of calmness and strength. She possesses spirit powers.

Amaqjuaq

Lead male. A powerful, physical young man -- a force of nature. He is neither mean-spirited nor kind. Like his brother Atanarjuat, he is a confident hunter, well-dressed, and well fed.

Atnarjuat

Lead male. A lean, fine-featured young man with intelligent, dreamy eyes. He has the carefree, athletic gracefulness of someone for whom everything comes almost too easily. He is a confident hunter, well-dressed, and well fed.

Atuat

Lead female. A beautiful young woman, gentle, intelligent, and loving. She falls in love with Atanarjuat and defies Sauri's bidding to marry Oki.

Tungajuaq

An evil shaman. An odd yet mild-looking man who can transform his features into pure evil. This mysterious stranger is unrelated to either family but brings evil to them both.
