FW: NATIVE ART•CULTURE evening

Kwé, Kuei!!!
NATIVE ART•CULTURE evening; Music, performing arts (open mics)

Thursday December 2th starting at 21h.
At Café-bar l’Escalier; 552, Saint-Catherine Street East

This Thursday, December 2, we will be surrounded by many Aboriginal artists, including the outstanding Kathia Rock. She is an author, composer and original performer from the Innu Nation, one of the eleven First Nations in Quebec.

Since music embraced her, Kathia has been having dreams in which the sacred Innu drum (teueikan) co-opts her breath. She is one of the few Innu women who have received consent from their elders to play the teueikan, a drum traditionally reserved for men only. The power of Kathia’s voice penetrates the flesh and the senses, reaching their fundamental source.

The evening will end with a Music Jam. Bring your own instruments!
