Marie-Hélène Cousineau, the adoptive mother of Alexandre Apak, lived in Igloolik, a small island southwest of Baffin Island in the Arctic, for many years.

Inuit and Cree of Nunavik (Northern Québec) recount how they escaped the economic oppression of the Hudson’s Bay Company. Overcoming tremendous challenges, in 1959 they founded a co operative; then other communities followed suit.
