Segment 1: Elders playing a traditional children’s toy using seal flippers

This film is about a game with seal flipper bones. This was a toy for children. The seal flipper bones were cooked and cleaned. Each bone is identified by shape and has a name such as: father, mother, children, igloo, kudlik / qulliq, dogs, seals, animals. The children had to set up camp or community using the bones, naming the people and dogs.
The Elders shown on this video are pretending to play the game as it was played when they were children.
Segment 2: Elder Pitseolala explaining how the Elder’s group stated in Iqaluit.
She also explains what activities they had, and why they needed a center for elders.
