Idle No More: Let’s celebrate together!

Montréal, June 19, 2013 – Idle No More Québec and the Cercle des Premières Nations de l’UQÀM invite you to join the grand festive demonstration “Idle No More: Let’s celebrate together!” this Friday June 21st in Montréal in celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

This demonstration will be an opportunity to reiterate the demands of the Idle No More movement while celebrating the richness and diversity of our cultures. On June 21st, we will send a clear message to the governments: we will continue to promote our rights and respect for Mother Earth! From the perspective of bringing nations together, we will also celebrate the solidarity between Peoples.

We are proud have to have the support and the involvement of many groups and organizations for this event, including: Quebec Native Women, the Coalition for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Quebec, Amnesty International Canada’s francophone branch, Greenpeace Quebec, Quebec Women's Federation, the Association for Student Union Solidarity, the Montreal Central Council of the Confederation of National Trade Unions, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Quebec Public Interest Research Group at UQAM, the Réseau québécois des groupes écologistes, Nature Québec, the Rivers Foundation, Friends of the Earth Québec, the Project Accompaniment Quebec-Guatemala, Todos por Guatemala, the Native Youth Sexual Health Network and SOS Poigan.

This demonstration will be a peaceful and festive family event. Come with friends and family and bring drums, rattles, jingle dress, red feathers! Please dress colorfully! Red is the color of honour.
