Seventh Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival

Seventh Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival

NIIFF-2013 Festival Theme & Date Announced

The Indigenous Film Archive (IFA) is proud to announce its seventh edition of the Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival (NIIFF)-2013.

The Seventh Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival (NIIFF) - 2013 has been scheduled to be held from 25-28 April 2013, in Kathmandu City at City Hall & Nepal Tourism Board Hall, Exhibition Road.  The focus of this year's Nepal International Indigenous Film Festival (NIIFF) is 'Equal Access and Participation of Indigenous Peoples in Media'.

This slogan explicitly reflects the exclusion, injustice, and discrimination faced by the Indigenous Peoples for centuries, it is a call to combat those grievances and advocate for equal share in the resources and equal right to participate in all forms of non-indigenous media without any discrimination.

It is also a call to preserve cultures, languages, spirituality and traditions and develop indigenous media to reflect indigenous values and fight against myths and misconceptions. It is a stride to forge a global solidarity and equally to challenge the existing mainstream media, all sorts of prejudices and injustice through the use of powerful media tools like community radio and television to feature films and documentaries, from video art and newspapers to the internet and social media in order to foster the mutual understanding, create bridges, and establish a truly intercultural society.
