Segment 1: An Arviat elder, Elizabeth Issakiark (Kubvaqaat) tells stories about the starvation period in her life and the lives of her relatives. She talks about how to look after a starving person. She has a very vivid memory of how it was in the early ‘50s, ‘60s. She talks about the police helping people in the camps. She saved a person from starvation, who had come back to their camp. The man’s name was Ajaranni - he had left the camp some time back.
