About
Since the 1970’s, IBC has been recording Inuit stories from an Inuit perspective – an estimated 9,000 hours of unique footage. In 2015, we began the process of cataloguing and digitizing these videos and have created the Inuit Film and Video Archive. Videos can be accessed online at www.isuma.tv/ibc. The catalogue can be accessed for searches at IBC’s Nunavut Media Arts Centre in Iqaluit or by contacting IBC’s Multi-Media Archivist at archive@inuitbroadcasting.ca. The contributions of many elders who have since passed on and whose knowledge, wisdom and practices are preserved in this collection.
This video is an hour long presentation of archival videos from IBC’s collection dating back to the early 1980’s. Gerry Phillip and Manitok Thompson, presented the video at free public screenings in Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay in the spring on 2018.
