CORPORATE PROFILE

Incorporated in 2024, 5984 Nunavut Inc. is dedicated to creating and sharing films and television series for Inuit audiences. 5984 Nunavut Inc. is 100% owned by Zacharias Kunuk, one of Canada’s most successful artists, with a 30+ year career of writing, producing and directing award-winning film and television projects, including the internationally acclaimed Inuktitut feature film Atanarjuat - The Fast Runner (2001), winner of the Cannes Caméra d’or.

Every production offers a priceless understanding of Inuit knowledge and perspective, promoting teaching through observation and oral teaching, while also allowing people to feel more closely connected to family, community and culture.

With a mandate to create quality motion picture and television programs by and for Inuit audiences, 5984 Nunavut is proud to employ and mentor local community members, while collaborating with partners, artists and individuals from across Inuit Nunangat. All 5984 Nunavut projects are guided by Inuit Qaujimajatungangit, including Pilimmaksarniq (to share and develop skills). Each project intentionally provides meaningful employment, skills-training, and mentoring for the next generation of Inuit producers, writers, camera and audio operators.
