"From Inuk Point of View" is the first independent video art piece by acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk (Atanarjuat The Fast Runner (2001) voted "Best Canadian Film" by TIFF Film Critics poll). Narrated by Isuma Collective co-founder and elder Pauloosie Qulitalik, it is a moving and meditative reflection on the rapid changes Inuit have experienced in the 20th century. Produced in 1985 and newly remastered in 4K, it offers unique perspectives and striking images that the director would become known for through his now over 40-year career.

ABOUT INUK POINT OF VIEW
From Inuk Point of View Inuktitut-language video was the first work by an Inuit or Aboriginal artist deemed eligible to apply for a professional artist’s grant from the Canada Art's Council. Kunuk was the video’s director and producer; Norman Cohn cameraman; Paul Apak Angilirq editor; and elder Pauloosie Qulitalik as narrator. By 1990, the four partners had formed Igloolik Isuma Productions Inc. to produce independent video art from an Inuit point of view. The video also features footage shot by Zacharias Kunuk, Paul Apak Angilirq and Simon Quassa, along with narration from three other well-respected Igloolik elders.

The film was remastered through the Hot Docs Redux program, with gracious support from Telefilm Canada and the Indigenous Screen Office.
