About
Program: Qaggiq (“Gathering Place”) – is a current affairs program (refers to a large igloo built for the gathering of several families).
Producer: Iqaluit Inuit Broadcasting, Nunavut
Host: Paul Qauasa
Segment 1: Inuit Broadcasting crew from Iqaluit travel to Resolute Bay, Nunavut. They are given a tour of the land. They visit Eleanor Lake where there is good fishing and the location of the spring and summer camp of local residents. They also view a 200-year old wooden boat that Paul Amaroalik’s father had found years back at Abandoned Bay. Some have thought this boat belonged to the ship that was with Captain Parry in 1850. An old letter was also found. There is archaeological evidence of Inuit dwellings and remains before the community of Resolute Bay was founded.
