Frank Pokiak was Born on Banks Island.

He started working at age 12 and went to school up to grade 3 but he had to stop going to school because he needed to hunt and help his family due his fathers blindness.

He married Married Nellie Silaotsiak in 1972. Frank has travelled over many lands and waters and has spent most of his life hunting and fishing and whaling and providing for his family as a substance. Frank was also the IGC chair for nearly 30 years.

Frank has been a teacher to many, his latest prodigy is his grandson Anthony Pokiak.
