TITLE: Laying in a Field of Grass – A Suno AI Reimagining
Music & Story by Donald Morin
"I lay on the field of grass and I wonder why... why world so cruel."
This track represents a new chapter in my creative journey. I have been learning to use the Suno AI app to find new ways to express the complex emotions of my past. Through this technology, I am able to capture the sounds and sentiments of a time when life felt fragile and the world felt cold.
Laying in a Field of Grass
Lyrics & Music by Donald Morin
(Verse 1)
It's been so long
Since I was a little child.
I looked up to the sky
And see oh God and wonder why.
Why I feel this way
And the sky so blue.
(Verse 2)
I see myself as a real child.
Faster around and faster around.
I lay on the field of grass
And I wonder why.
Why, why, why feel this way
When people treat us so bad.
(Chorus)
And I cry out to the creator.
Why world so cruel.
I see the people across the world.
I see the pain and misery.
I see the blood, I see the wars.
I see Jesus looking down.
Why do we act this way
When love can’t be found.
(Refrain)
And I see the angels crying now.
I see angels crying now.
(Verse 3)
The flies fly around
Insects keeping time
As they carry me through,
Begin the ban of misery.
Insects and animals
Are they just like we.
(Verse 4)
We are young and old,
We are love and sin.
Can we catch the light
As the books open and close.
And the Bible tells us not to kill ourselves.
And the Bible tell us we gotta love ourselves.
(Chorus / Bridge)
And I see the shadows and light.
Oh, Great Creator, won't you come around.
Here we are actors playing the blood of war.
When you will come down, bring peace all around.
Oh, Great Creator, hey, hey.
Oh, Mother Mary, say hello.
(Verse 5)
I’m glad I have so many friends
Who are not with me now.
In this modern age, I read their texts and posts.
Facebook, Twitter and Google,
What are you gonna do about love.
Can you spread the love faster and faster.
Instead of the hate we see all around.
(Outro)
I see the rainbow in the sky,
I see the rainbow on the ground.
Doors are open and closed,
People walk on by as we walk on by.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.

The Story Behind the Song
The lyrics and "vibe" of this piece come from my time spent in an undisclosed location, working in the heart of dangerous military war game exercises. In this high-stakes environment, I served as a French-speaking refugee and a driver, responsible for the safety of six participants.
Moving between Colonels, Peacekeepers, and Soldiers, I witnessed the machinery of war firsthand. In those moments, you realize how war can take over everything until human life feels like it means nothing. This song captures that specific, heavy feeling of being forlorn and worthless in the face of conflict.
Laying in the field of grass was the only moment of escape—a chance to look at the sky and wonder where love had gone.
Creative Process
This version was created using Suno AI, allowing me to translate these decades-old feelings into a modern soundscape. It is an experiment in digital storytelling—using artificial intelligence to touch on very real human pain and the hope for peace.
Composed/Prompted by: Donald Morin
Technology: Created via Suno AI
Role in Exercise: Refugee Driver (6 participants)
Themes: Conflict, Peacekeeping, and the devaluation of human life.
