Local server installation manual
NOTE: This installation manual contains several sections the concerning the installation of optional equipment. Before installing, check the contents of the boxes against the packing list and report any omissions to us. Please read through the entire instruction manual before starting the installation.
LOCAL SERVER
Locate the network hub or switch that serves the computers in the room or rooms where you want content to load from the local server. Unpack the the local server and place it within 10 feet of this hub. If you wish, you may secure it to a wall or table. Use the 4 included screws in the four holes indicated in the diagram to secure the server to the surface. DO NOT MOUNT IN DRYWALL.
Take the included 10 foot blue networking cable and plug one end into a free port on your hub or switch. Plug the other end into the matching blue port on the local server labelled LAN1.
Unpack the power supply and plug the green plug on the power supply into the green port on the local server labelled POWER.
Plug the black power cord into an available wall outlet.
OPTIONAL: Kiosk setup
If the local server is to be used as a video-playing kiosk in addition to its other functions, connect the following devices:
Unpack the monitor, keyboard and mouse from their packaging. Plug the monitor's blue plug into the blue socket on the server labelled "VGA". Plug the monitor's power plug into an available power outlet.
Connect the green plug on the mouse to the green connector labelled "MS" and the purple plug on the keyboard to the purple connector labelled "KB".
Turn on the monitor, and press Enter when you see the message "Press enter to start kiosk mode."
After a few seconds, the Isuma website will appear on the screen.
OPTIONAL: Loading content from an external hard drive
From time to time, you may be provided with an external hard drive which contains updated videos and other content from the main isuma.tv site. When you receive this drive, please follow these instructions.
Unpack the drive and the power supply. Plug the power supply into an available power outlet. Plug the round connector from the power supply into the corresponding jack on the hard drive.
Next, turn the power switch on the hard drive to the "ON" position.
Next, take the USB cable and plug the square end into the hard drive. Make sure to line up the arrow on top of the cable with the arrow on top of the hard drive. Next, plug the other end of the USB cable into the local server, again making sure the arrow on the cable lines up with arrow on the server.
Wait about 30 seconds and you should hear 3 rising beeps come from the local server. This indicates that the local server has begun copying data from the drive to its internal storage.
If you do not hear the rising beeps after a minute or so, this means that there is a problem with the drive. Please contact us for further instructions.
DO NOT UNPLUG THE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE FROM EITHER POWER OR USB WHILE THE COPY OPERATION IS PROCEEDING.
When the copy operation is complete, the server will begin beeping once every second. When you hear this beeping, it is now safe to unplug the external hard drive. After unplugging it, power it off and pack it back in its original packaging for return to Isuma or transportation to the next local server that needs updating.
