Headline: The Creator is Getting Ready: A Tribute to Mary Nippi
"When you see the lightning... do you know what it’s about? It’s the Creator getting ready."
This prose performance is a special edit from the As A Koden: Talking Story film. It is a soulful journey honoring the memory of Saulteaux mother, beader, and dancer, Mary Nippi.
Combining Mary’s traditional storytelling with original music by Donald Morin, this piece captures the power of the elements and the spiritual preparation of the Great Spirit.
From the flash of the mirror in the sky to the drumbeat of the thunder, we are reminded of our role as caretakers of Mother Earth. This is more than a film—it is a conversation, a journey, and a remembering.

Project: As A Koden, Talking Story: "Who Is Your Name?"
This edit explores the Indigenous thunder and creation story and the visual metaphor of the Creator "getting ready" before stepping out onto the power floor. Through a blend of music, narration, and symbolic imagery—from the sacredness of the dance to the environmental challenges of our modern world—we are called to help the caretakers of Mother Earth.
