Boss is an agent of the government, assigned to get Piugattuk to move his band to settlement housing and send his children to school, so they can get jobs and make money. But Kapuivik is Piugattuk’s homeland. He takes no part in the Canadian experience; and cannot imagine what his children would do with money.

Idlout is from the Igloolik, a small community which rests on top of Qiqiktaaluk/Baffin Island. Idlout moved to Iqaluit in preparation for the creation of the Nunavut as a self-governing territory in 1998.

She has worked for the Government of Nunavut as a policy analyst and as Executive Director of Embrace Life Council – a non-profit suicide prevention organization. She completed her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa and practiced law in Iqaluit with her own firm, Qusagaq Law Office before becoming the Member of Parliament.

Lori has raised nine children with her partner, Allan.

"I disagree with the pathway the company wants to use. It is not that I am against mining. This pathway, I really disagree with. When there is a possibility for another pathway with no problems. The one they want to use is where the walruses migrate and congregate. When the walruses are disturbed they go further in the ocean. If they do their shipment through this pathway, the walruses will not come anymore.

There is a deeper water they could uses for shipment but they still want to use the shallow channel. We are trying to make them change the path. It is becoming a problem.

I completely disagree because it will affect me, my culture and everything else around.  It is a very important place for walruses and bearded seals. For us, it will be difficult to go further south on open sea when they will chase the walruses away."

        4K digital video installation, 112 minutes, Inuktitut-English 2019

        Synopsis:
In April 1961 John Kennedy is America’s new President, the Cold War heats up in Berlin and nuclear bombers are deployed from bases in arctic Canada. In Kapuivik, north Baffin Island, Noah Piugattuk’s nomadic Inuit band live and hunt by dogteam as his ancestors did when he was born in 1900. When the white man known as Boss arrives at Piugattuk’s hunting camp, what appears as a chance meeting soon opens up the prospect of momentous change. Boss is an agent of the government, assigned to get Piugattuk to move his band to settlement housing and send his children to school, so they can get jobs and make money. But Kapuivik is Piugattuk’s homeland. He takes no part in the Canadian experience; and cannot imagine what his children would do with money.

"One Day in the Life of Noah Piugattuk" will be shown as a video installation in the Canada Pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2019 in Venice from May 8–November 24, theatrically in festivals, cinemas, museums, on iTunes and other global online platforms in Nunavut, Canada and worldwide.

In Caribou Storyteller Elders tell stories of people who lived on the land; showing us what the story is today, what it looks like now and who goes there now…with many questions around: are people still hunting caribou?

Is it still a caribou route? Is it still accessable to this day?

One interview is Jacky Qrunnut interviewing Samuelie Ammaq on caribou hunting, showing in detail the areas he has found caribou.

And an interview with elders Michelline Ammaq and Atuat Akittiq, a well known award winning seamstress.

Also in the video - Bailey Ammaq, grandson of Michelline and Samuillie Amaaq who is a young hunter following his grandfather's path as a hunter who provides for the community.

And Josepha Taqqaugaq, a seamstress in the community who works with different kinds of materials and animal fur to prepare and make clothing to keep her family warm in harsh environments.
